Laboratorio, 1998

Fabrizio Corneli

Laboratorio

Iron, varnish, brass silver cast, crystal, dichroic lamp
120 x 120 in / 304.8 x 304.8 cm

Laboratorio (Laboratory) 1998, represents the two different ways in which Fabrizio Corneli uses light. This piece is a sculptural element and constituent of the installation while being a light difuser at the same time.

It portrays a human figure designed by light through an optic; a projection originating from a crystal ball, creating a precious relic of mysterious origin. The ethereal lightness of the figure hovering on the empty wall emphasizes the transparency of the image. Its intangible presence can be understood only by observing it, without using any other sense except sight.

Girl With Ice Cream, 2008

Aleksandra Stratimirovic

Girl With Ice Cream

Metal, white/opal plexiglass, glass liquid containers, colored water, fluorescent lamps
120 x 120 in / 304.8 x 304.8 cm

Girl With Ice Cream, 2008, is at close range a collection of more than a thousand small medical glass containers filled with different colored liquids, in a sterile laboratory framework with a fluorescent back light. When taking a couple of steps back, the vivid image of a girl appears. She is standing in a green park under a blue sky holding an ice cream. Light is the essential component of this work as it intensifies colors, makes the shapes distinct and adds a vivid dimension into the image of the girl.
